Four Season Thinking

reflect, be present, and appreciate.

8:38 p.m.

Currently…

Needing to pee.

Wanting to dance my face off.

Listening to some supa slick hip hop mixes.

Wondering if I’ll crash really soon tonight.

Waiting for my ride.

Happy partying,

Kasey

My grandmother is very ill. She has spent the last two months in the hospital having her blood manually filtered, because her kidneys are incapable of doing it for her. She is currently improving, and I’m hopeful that she will continue to make headway.

Here are a few of the reasons I have the best grandmother in the entire world.

She always…

::calls me on my birthday, every year I have been alive, and sings to me::

::has her cupboards filled with Twizzlers and peanuts::

::wears some huge t-shirt that has a cartoon animal on it, and has some funny saying like, “Quit Lion Around!” written on it::

::Laughs so contagiously and distinctly that you can’t help but join in::

::Loves unconditionally::

::Has a menagerie of animals surrounding her (i.e. parrots who bite, turtles, snakes, cats, mice, alligators)::

- Yes, she really did let my dad have a pet alligator. It grew so big that they had to keep it in the bathtub. How uninteresting does your grandma seem now?

::has decorated her house EXCLUSIVELY with beanie babies and Chargers memorabilia::

::has been married to my Grandpa Hack who is freakin’ awesome in his own ways::

- Okay, they haven’t ALWAYS been married, but they have been married since I was born, and that’s always to me:)

::has respected her children and grandchildren for who they are as individuals, and supported them without any judgements::

::lets her cats drink out of her water cup::

-She actually lets anyone drink from it, including the cats. I always thought this was so cool! I think she used to say, “Grandma’s cup is the community cup.”

::enjoyed nothing more than to have all of her grandchildren together, around her in her home::

::wanted to travel around the U.S. with my grandpa in their own RV, and then did it::

- and yes, if you’re wondering, they took two cats, one dog, and a parrot with them on their journey.

::has been there whenever I call, even though I don’t call nearly enough, and is thrilled to hear from me every time::

I love my grandma. Please keep her in your prayers, thoughts, and meditation sessions.

Call your grandma!

Nebulous

Fact: I love astronomy. It’s this weird obsession I have with the universe. I’m always wondering what’s out there?… Who’s out there?… Will we ever find them?… Or will they find us first? There’s just so much to know about the universe, and with all the technology we have today, we really aren’t any closer to understanding it.

image

I liken the vast expanse of the universe to the internet. With all the technology we have, and all of the decades/centuries that we’ve spent studying the skies, the amount of information we actually have about the cosmos is unimaginatively miniscule. For example; imagine that this single paragraph is the amount of knowledge about the cosmos we hold as fact. Now, imagine that my whole blog is the total collection of theoretical knowledge we have that attempts to explain the universe. Now, imagine ALL the available corners of the internet that we aren’t including in this metaphor, and you have some extremely general idea of everything we don’t know about the universe. It’s a little mind boggling isn’t it?

image

DISCLAIMER: I’m not an astronomer! I’m also not a scientist. I’m not even a star gazer. Honestly, the only thing that gives my rambling any backing is the embarrassing amount of space documentaries I watch on the regular. I’m basically the definition of amateur. So please be gentle with your criticisms :)

And now for the part of my post that I’m MOST excited about. Did you know that any image taken by the Hubble telescope is available to the public for free? It’s true! And since I’m a closet astronomy freak, I’m a little ecstatic about this information!

image

Printed posters of the cosmos would make awesome holiday gifts for your loved ones, or just as an, “I’m awesome and I deserve it gift,” for yourself!

Keep Wondering,

Drinking when we are not thirsty and making love at all seasons, madam: that is all there is to distinguish us from other animals.

I am currently

Wishing I didn’t have this unconcious mental alarm clock that forces my eyes open at ungodly hours of the night.

Wondering if Solstice is too hippie of a name for my daughter.

Wanting the rattling that occurs between my window, and the vibrations from my heater, to cease.

Realizing it won’t be till spring that my want will come true.

Remembering singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” with a three year old doll-faced angel yesterday.

Missing him and his gaze.

Goodnight,

Kasey

Good morning, afternoon, evening,
This is my second attempt at blogging. Please come with me on this journey through my thoughts. A few things I hope to accomplish throughout this process….
A. Finding myself
B. Understanding you.
C. Impressing myself.
D. Loving myself.
E. Finding clarity.

Peace,
Kasey
